BARÁTOK
September 28, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
£14.00With support from SnuffBox.
Hungarian for ‘Friends’ or ‘Kindred’, Barátok is a musical collaboration between Hungarian Violinist Zoltan Lantos and Scottish musician Iain Copeland.
Zoltan and Iain met originally whilst playing in a collaboration between Session A9 and world renowned percussionist Trilok Gurtu at Perth Theatre in 2008. During the development of the project they formed a musical friendship that has come to fruition, now 8 years later, to become Barátok.
The project also features the talents of guitarist Malcolm Macfarlane (Jamie Cullum, Barbara Thompson, Shakatak), pianist Chick Lyall (Rob Hall and Chick Lyall) and the fiery contribution of young traditional musicians Pablo Lafuente (Barluath, Josia and Pablo, Sketch) and Joe Armstrong (Dosca, Hup).
Snuffbox are an acoustic trio, based in Glasgow, featuring Charlie Stewart on fiddle, Rufus Huggan on cello and Luc McNally on guitar. Mixing traditional tunes with contemporary flair, as well as quirky, original material, Snuffbox melds old and new to create entirely their own sound.
