The musical experience that is Calum Ingram
From his roots in Paisley, Scotland, Calum grew up with a rich mix of blues, Americana, folk and rock music. When his classical cello training at school collided with his dad’s Jimi Hendrix records, a new and unique way to express his deep, heartfelt creativity was formed.
Armed with both a carbon fibre and NS Electric cello with a genre-bending style, he began a developmental journey which took him to the New School for Jazz and Contemporary music in Manhattan and the New York music scene.
He was quickly picked up by the Young Artist Initiative and began work on his debut album Making it possible, recorded at Avatar studios, Brooklyn’s own Speaker Sonic studios and mastered by none other than Gene Paul, son of guitar-pioneer Les Paul.
Nominations and awards followed, including The Midtown Theatre Festival Award for Best Sound Design and The Danny Kyle Award for Song writing.
Calum flourishes as both a solo singer-songwriter and an inspiring musical collaborator, working and sharing the stage with diverse artists such as Chad Watson, LULU,Mick Taylor,Eddi Reader and Jasmine Rodgers. and supporting Blues Rock legend Jack Bruce at The Queens Hall during Edinburgh’s Jazz and Blues Festival.
Whether it’s touring Scandinavia with multi-platinum selling Sandi Thom, headlining on main stage at Scotland’s Wickerman festival or playing in New York’s Rock Wood Music Hall, Calum has captivated audiences internationally. The passion, creativity and honesty he began with remains strong in his songs of hope, love and political activism.
