“a bombastic, theatrical, frenzied five-piece…. where ideas are raised and immediately thrown away, with collapsed beginnings of piano ballads, music hall motifs, erratic time changes, extended gaps in songs. It’s been said that The Fall took all styles, mangled them and put them out as rock ’n’ roll, and there’s a similar approach to genre’s taken here”

“Strange Places’ is the splendid début EP from Glasgow art rockers luciensghost. It gets off to a quite astounding start in the shape of ‘lucien’s immoral compass’ which falls somewhere between Talking Heads and Sparks”routefortheunderdog podcast & blog
Overwrought Chamber-Pop types, luciensghost draw upon a diverse range of musical pointers; art-rock, post-punk, dark indie, electro & French song for starters.
Based in Scotland, constantly flitting between Glasgow and Moniaive, they wrap these musical styles around dark themes; themes that contemplate the human condition, dystopian futures, the supernatural & those things that lurk within the recesses of the mind.
The Strange Places EP was recorded in Glasgow & was produced by Mick Caldwell of synthpop revivalists Flash Talk & mastered by John Disco of Bis / Debukas. It was launched on 28 August 2015 with support from Fat Goth, Sonny Marvello and live art by Lone Wolf.
‘Strange Places’ is a collection of four songs that address, a telephone haunting (lucien’s immoral compass), an inappropriately selfish perception of the death of a friend (newstyle), an obsession with a fading starlet (Split Personfantasy) and an unhealthy attraction to the undead (The Graveyard).
luciensghost are Mike: vocals/keyboards. Olwen: vocals. Sean: guitar. Woody: bass & Gary: drums.
